CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE!

Dear Prospective Students,

Xavier Academy (XA) is celebrating 20 years of academic excellence. Throughout these last twenty years, Aristotle’s quotation on “making excellence a habit” has inspired all of us in the college to achieve excellence in whatever we do in the college.

Our first priority is academic excellence. We can proudly state that we have achieved this through student-oriented teaching, close monitoring of the students’ attendance and performance, regular tests, assessments and examinations, providing necessary counseling and remedial classes in a very caring environment. From the very first year of our operations in 1997, our focus on academic excellence in a caring environment has translated into the college being consistently ranked amongst the top +2 institution in the country. From 2010 onwards, our results have been outstanding, with our students securing 100% results in both science and commerce over two consecutive years. Not satisfied with this, we have improved further our teaching-learning and significantly improved all our facilities to become one of the best if not the best +2 institution in the country. We invite students to be a part of this challenging and exciting journey.

Our second and equally important priority is total personality development. Therefore, we are implementing a holistic education system, whereby our students can participate in a wide range of mandatory co-curricular, extra-curricular and social activities. Through these activities (essay-writing, elocution, debate Model United Nations, personality development, motivational classes, social service, selected sports and cultural activities), our students have discovered their potential and talent and have excelled in various inter-college competitions. I am happy to report that our students have not only taken a keen interest in debating and Model United Nations but also have excelled in these very important character-building activities.

Above all, we are committed to producing morally upright students with character and integrity, students who love their country and will be proud of who they are, students who will make their parents, their teachers, their college and the nation proud.

As someone, who has been teaching and managing education institutions for 42+ years, I feel very proud to have been the Founder Chairperson of NEF and XA and to be the current Executive Chairman and Principal of XA. The secret of my youthful energy and enthusiasm is my students, who inspire me to be as youthful as them.

To us, education is not profit-making venture but an invaluable service that we can render to the youth of the country. Education is certainly not a past-time but a commitment to produce a critical mass of enlightened people who will contribute to socio-economic development of the country. We believe that investment in education is the best investment we can make. It is the best service we can render to our country.

I wish to reach out to our prospective students and invite them to join me and my colleagues in an exhilarating journey to make Xavier Academy the best +2 institution in the country!

Why Xavier Academy

1. Xavier Academy is totally committed to academic excellence

Xavier Academy (XA) has a proven track record of 20 years of academic excellence from the time of its establishment on 1st of August 1997. Through its excellent results in both HSEB Class XI and Class XII Science and Management (Commerce) examinations, it has consistently been ranked among the top ten higher secondary institutions in the country. The results have significantly improved from 2010 onwards, with the results in both science and management (commerce) almost 100% for two consecutive years. This has been achieved because of the commitment of the Board of Directors, the senior management, the faculty and administrative staff.

2. Xavier Academy is committed to total personality development and social/community service

From the very beginning of its establishment and operations, XA has given due importance to develop the students' total personalities through various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, including intra-class and inter-college debating, quiz, art and sports competitions. From academic session 2016/17, two additional classes have been allocated every week, one for co-curricular and one for extra-curricular activities so that all students develop their personalities and become confident and responsible citizens. Furthermore, all students have to undertake every year 15 hours of social/community service to help the poor and the disadvantaged. This is to ensure that our students become socially responsible citizens.

3. Xavier Academy is an institution that cares

XA has shown in many ways that it really cares for each and every student who enrolls in the college through regular contact with the students, especially the weak and problematic students, as well as their parents/guardians. If students do not turn up in the college, the college is concerned and phones the parents/guardians immediately. If the students become sick, the college immediately contacts the parents/guardians to take necessary action. The college applies discipline strictly but is very concerned with the progress of each student, organizing extra remedial classes for all the under-performing students. The college consults the parents on all major issues and organizes regular meetings with all the parents and students, especially immediately after the term examinations before results distribution to discuss the students' progress and discuss the way forward. It is because the college cares that the Principal/V. Principal/Coordinator and teachers visit the examination centers to answer any late exam query and to wish the students all the very best during the final examinations.  XA prides in being probably the only one or one of the very few colleges, which provide such care and attention to its students.

4. Xavier Academy is a well-disciplined college

Xavier Academy is well-known for its strict but fair discipline. It applies the disciplinary code very strictly. It is because of this that there have not been too many untoward incidents in the college. Former students, some of whom resented the application of the disciplinary code, have returned many years later to express their gratitude and thanks to the college for being strict with them so that they reformed their lives to become successful in their respective careers. These students have sent their younger siblings, relatives and acquaintances to XA to study. This is the best testimony and a matter of satisfaction to the whole XA family.

5. Xavier Academy is a well-resourced and well-maintained college

In its pursuit of academic excellence, Xavier Academy has always striven to provide excellent facilities, which are conducive to learning. The building is well-resourced in terms of tastefully-furnished classrooms and offices, a good library, laboratories, multipurpose hall, a hygienic, modern cafeteria, modern and hygienic toilets, e-learning, wifi and basketball court. The building is so well-maintained that all visitors are always very impressed. The whole college has been renovated and improved to create better and more classrooms as well as better facilities to celebrate the college's 20th anniversary on the 1st of August 2017 in a very fitting manner.

6. Xavier Academy has a family atmosphere and is a fun place

The whole college operates like one big family where the students are treated as younger siblings. The teachers and the administrative staff are all very friendly. The college takes pride in the fact that the faculty and administrative staff are very loyal to the college and have worked and will continue to work for many years. Through regular fun events, the college is also a fun place.

7. Xavier Academy is a college where students' interests are central to all decision-making

The college takes pride in its tradition where all decisions are taken with students' interests central in the decision-making process. The students are our clients and are our future ambassadors. This is why decisions are taken considering what is best for students. The Student Council is a forum for students to develop their leadership and organizing skills. The Parents-Teachers forum provides the platform for both parents and teachers to discuss how better to improve both the quality of teaching and the various activities as well as academic services.

8. XAVIER ACADEMY IS THE COLLEGE FOR STUDENTS TO DISCOVER THEIR TRUE POTENTIAL

In XA, the students have an opportunity to discover their true potential to become future leaders with creative, innovative and critical thinking as well become morally upright and socially responsible citizens. Therefore, for many students, XA is the college of 1st choice

Nepal Education Foundation

Nepal Education Foundation (NEF) was established in 1996 by a group of like-minded, experienced educationists, deeply committed to the cause of promoting quality education in the country. The educationists as well as the entrepreneurs, who are promoting the educational institutions under the umbrella of NEF have made these institutions centers of excellence, providing a wide variety of educational services of the highest quality. Under the NEF umbrella, there are currently three colleges: Xavier Academy, Lazimpat, Little Angels' College, Hattiban and Bhanubhakta Memorial College, Panipokhari. These institutions offer high quality Higher Secondary Education (+2) under HSEB, now under NEB, in science and management, as well as higher education courses.

NEPAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION – CONSORTIUM OF COLLEGES, NEPAL (NEF-CCN) : STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS

Two NEF institutions, namely Xavier Academy (XA), Lazimpat, Kathmandu, and Little Angels' College, Hattiban, Lalitpur, have combined with Asian Institute of Technology and Management (AITM), formerly WhiteHouse Education Network (WHEN), Khumaltar Heights, Lalitpur to form Nepal Education Foundation – Consortium of Colleges, Nepal (NEF-CCN), to offer high quality 10+2 programs in Science and Commerce/Management/Hotel Management, as well various undergraduate and graduate programs of reputed national and international universities. NEF-CCN was duly registered on 9 March 2011. As a partner institution of NEF-CCN, XA is able to provide its students the manifold benefits of the consortium in terms of a variety of courses, enabling students lateral and vertical progression to achieve their long-term academic objectives.

On 15 June 2011, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and Nepal Education Foundation - Consortium of Colleges, Nepal (NEF-CCN) signed Memorandum of Agreements (MoAs) to offer a number of AIT programs in Nepal, with the first half to be conducted in Nepal and the second half in AIT, Bangkok. NEF-CCN began to offer the two-stage Master's Programs in Business Administration and two-stage Bachelor Program in Civil and Infrastructure Engineering from February 2013. Two batches of students have completed their MBA and one batch has completed the undergraduate civil engineering program under the 2-stage arrangement. Both these programs were discontinued.

Apart from the above international programs, AITM of NEF-CCN offers the Bachelor of Hotel Management (a 4 year undergraduate program) under an agreement with International Management Institute (IMI), Luzern, Switzerland, signed on 29 July 2010, renewed on 31 January 2013, revised on 16 September 2014 and again revised on 4 April 2017. IMI is one of the top ten hotel management colleges/universities in Switzerland. It was recognized as one of the top 50 hotel and hospitality schools in the world by CEOWorld magazine in 2016. Under the existing agreement with IMI, students have the option of additional internship or continue with their Master's program in IMI, Switzerland.

NEF-CCN also signed MoU on 25 August 2014 and MoA on 2 February 2016 with SolBridge International School of Business, Daejeon, S. Korea, one of the top 5% business colleges in the world.

Similarly, NEF-CCN signed MoU on 28 October 2015 and Freshman Admission Agreement and Program Articulation Agreement on 29 March 2016 with Angelo State University (ASU), San Angelo, Texas, USA, a reputed medium-size state university in the States.

NEF-CCN has also signed a MoU on 11 July 2016 with Strathclyde Business School of Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK. Strathclyde Business School was named the UK’s Business School of the Year in 2016 by Times Higher Education.  NEF-CCN will be signing a collaborative articulation agreement with Strathclyde Business School in the near future.

NEF-CCN also signed two MoAs on 16 November 2016 with Mody University of Science and Technology, Rajasthan, India.

NEF-CCN signed a MoU on 31 May 2017 with Panyapiwat Institute of Management, Thailand’s first and largest corporate university, located in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

Under most of the agreements, which have been signed, the students of NEF-CCN colleges can either undertake their BBA studies in the partner institutions at comparatively better terms and conditions or do the first half of their studies in Kathmandu Don Bosco College, located in Xavier Academy premises, and the second half abroad.

NEF-CCN colleges offer 20 different academic programs ranging from +2, “A” level, to undergraduate and graduate programs with 1,892 students enrolled in the +2 and “A” level programs and 1,946 students enrolled in the undergraduate and graduate programs.
